Thu, May 27, 2004 - 9:46 PMhi. one of my favorite roads trips was to northern michigan just to see the world famous mystery spot. 8hrs there and 8hrs back, with a stop somewhere in the middle to see the world largest cross, not to mention lots of traffic jam mischief. -

Re: welcome tell us about a trip you've taken
Tue, July 13, 2004 - 3:46 PMIn the last 5 years I've been on several decent road trips.
2001 Drove from Muncie, Indiana to Salinas, California in 48 hours.
2002 Drove back to Indiana, via the Grand Canyon this time, again around 50 hours.
Between 2003 and 2004 I've put over 5000 road miles on my car touring the Michigan coastlines. I've seen and photographed every lighthouse on land in Michigan (save for about 4). Most of the trips were overnight trips that clocked an average of 1500 miles per trip.
I'd travel much more if I didn't have to do it alone (all these trips were solo photo adventures).
The only other interesting roadtrip was an over/all nighter from Detrit to Tennessee, which involved picking up a chick and towing a car. This was a two-man to a two-man one woman trip that I drove probably 80% of the way.
I had a job as a driving newspaper delivery guy for over a year, clocked about 1000 miles a week in travel so I got used to driving.
Been in photography for three years now, so I focus that attention towards travel!
Side Note: I've been past the Mystery Spot in the UP, but it was closed! I have gone on many one stop trips where I drove 500 miles to see one thing, take a picture (staying less than hlf hour) and coming home. -

Re: welcome tell us about a trip you've taken
Wed, September 22, 2004 - 9:00 AMMy good friends Moe Shepherd (LA dolly grip) and Dutch Courage (North Jersey evangelist) and I hit the road in a Lincoln Town Car every spring. (Except for our Havana to Pino del Rio trip in Cuba a couple years back. You can see some photos on my home page.) Best was Rt 93: two-lane blacktop from Phoenix to Jasper, Alberta. From the scorching deserts to white-outs in the Columbia Ice Fields in 10 days. Fabulous food every night, except in Arco, Idaho, where the Melody Steak House gave us the supreme 24-hour shits, entailing plenty of emergency stops and bolts from the town car. (Dutch scared a road-side antelope herd with his.) Weird brothels in Ely, Nevada, too. Well worth the escapade. This year, from New Orleans to NYC, with a goal of five BBQ stops a day. If we see smoke, we pull over for ribs, that's the rule. Next spring, Route 6 from the Poconos to Lake Erie. Fly fishing in Pine Creek and serious homemade scrapple in Wellsboro, PA. Every county seat in Pennsylvania, that's my goal. Here's to beef jerkey in every glove compartment. -

Mon, November 1, 2004 - 4:02 AMI'm off throughout Pennsylvania, perhaps the finest roadtrip and shunpiking state in the union. I'll return with tales of white snakes, bugling elk and attempting to never overlook a scenic overlook. Here's to 200-mile coffee when you can find it.

Re: welcome tell us about a trip you've taken
Wed, January 5, 2005 - 8:26 PMI drove from Boston, MA to Phoenix, AZ in a crammed pick-up truck with my boyfriend and my sedated cat. We stopped to see cadillac ranch and world's largest anything that was along the way. My profile has photos from the trip.

Re: welcome tell us about a trip you've taken
Wed, January 5, 2005 - 9:38 PM
Denver via Sedona and returning through the Utah Badlands and Death Valley. The whole trip took me over a week and a half including visits in Denver for 3 days. No pics, sorry, but the trip was fabulous.
I'm taking a trip up the coast in February. 1 week straight up CA, OR and WA to Victoria, Canada and back again. I'll post afterwards w/ pictures. Actually, I'm likely to post from the road, knowing me I'll jones without a computer connection. ;)
Anyone have suggestions for stops, eats, places to stay, etc, all are welcome.
